Measurement form

Step by Step

Work through these in order for each unit.

1

Download the Form

Record your information the same way our website will ask for it. Print one per unit and fill it in as you measure.

2

Know Your Cabinets

A few quick questions decide your hinge and which steps you need.

Are there existing doors on your cabinets?
3

Find Your Hinge Overlay

Framed cabinets only. Overlay is how far the door covers the frame on the hinge side.

  1. Check how your doors sit. Partially or fully inset doors sit inside the opening, so there's no overlay to calculate. Overlay doors cover part of the frame.
  2. Measure an overlay door. Pick a cabinet with one door. Measure the door itself, then the opening behind it.
  3. Do the math.
(Door Width − Opening Width) ÷ 2 = Hinge OverlayExample: a 17" door on a 16" opening has a 1/2" overlay.
Try it
Enter both measurements in inches. Fractions are fine.

Then measure your doors and drawer fronts

Overlay is an available one

Measure your existing doors and drawer fronts to the nearest 1/16" (0.0625"). Measure width first, then height.

Overlay is not available

Use a 1/2" overlay on your replacement doors. Measure your cabinet opening to the nearest 1/16" (0.0625"), then add 1" to the opening width and to the opening height.

Write the dimensions and quantities you need on the measurement form. Not sure if your overlay is available? Call 704-390-7378.

  1. Unit information: project name, unit number and unit type. P.O. number is optional.
  2. Door and pull defaults: choose your style and color. You can change any part later.
  3. Hinge type: soft-close or standard.
  4. Part details: type, width and height in inches to the nearest 1/16", plus quantity. Add a line item and a label note (up to 19 characters, like "sink base") to each. Slab doors also need hinge side and upper or lower.
Lightly shaded sections are required.

Double-Check

  1. The number of parts on the form should match the number of doors and drawer fronts you need. Walk the unit again and count, baths and utility rooms included.
  2. Look for patterns. Base doors share a height, and widths usually step by 3".
